Abuja, Nigeria – June 25, 2025
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday extended warm birthday wishes to his Chief of Staff, Olufemi Gbajabiamila, praising his decades-long contribution to Nigeria’s democracy and governance.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and titled “President Tinubu Greets Chief Of Staff Gbajabiamila on His Birthday,” the president described Gbajabiamila as a dedicated public servant whose service in the National Assembly helped strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
“The President encourages his Chief of Staff to continue supporting him in implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda to create a better, more economically viable, and more prosperous Nigeria,” the statement read in part.
A trained lawyer and seasoned lawmaker, Gbajabiamila served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, and was first elected to the National Assembly in 2003. Over two decades, he represented the Surulere Constituency of Lagos State across six consecutive terms, holding key leadership positions as both Minority and Majority Leader before eventually becoming Speaker.
President Tinubu commended Gbajabiamila’s commitment to grassroots development, particularly in his native Surulere, and acknowledged his consistent efforts in advancing legislative processes and governance reforms in Nigeria.
“He has made salutary contributions to Nigeria’s fledgling democracy,” Tinubu said, noting that the Chief of Staff has remained an integral figure in the ongoing effort to build a more accountable and inclusive government.
The President wished Gbajabiamila a long life in good health and expressed confidence in his continued role in helping steer the administration’s agenda.
Gbajabiamila has served as Chief of Staff to President Tinubu since May 2023, shortly after the President’s inauguration.
