Kaduna State Police Ban Unlawful Gatherings by Proscribed Group
The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a ban on all unlawful gatherings by the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), including their planned Ashura procession.
According to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, the ban is in response to intelligence reports indicating that the IMN, also known as the Shi’ite group, is planning a procession to mark the 2024 Islamic Ashura day. Hassan stated that such events have previously led to violence, property destruction, injuries, and even loss of lives.
The Police Command has emphasized that it will enforce the law strictly against any individuals or groups, especially IMN members, who attempt to violate the ban.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ali Dabigi, reassured residents to continue their lawful activities without fear, stating that the state’s relative peace will not be compromised by the actions of a few.
