In a grand ceremony reflecting Nigeria’s rich traditions and political unity, prominent personalities gathered on Saturday at the Wedding Fatiha of Dr. Aishatu Kwankwaso, daughter of former Kano State governor and Kwankwasiyya political leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The bride was married to Fahad, son of renowned Katsina business mogul Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, in a ceremony conducted by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zahraddeen, at the palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Among the distinguished guests were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki. The wedding also attracted a long list of political heavyweights, including:
- Former governors: Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Lucky Igbinedion (Edo), Isah Yuguda (Bauchi), Adamu Aliero (Kebbi), Victor Attah (Akwa Ibom), and Achike Udenwa (Imo).
- Senators Abdul Ningi and Dino Melaye.
- Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.
The groom presented a dowry of N1 million, as is customary in Islamic tradition.
A notable highlight of the event was the arrival of former President Olusegun Obasanjo wearing the iconic red cap of the Kwankwasiyya movement, a gesture symbolizing solidarity with Kwankwaso’s political ideology.
