Inter Milan have initiated discussions with Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro over a potential contract extension, as the club looks to secure the future of one of its most promising young talents.

Akinsanmiro, 20, is currently under contract with the Nerazzurri until 2026. However, following an impressive season-long loan spell at Sampdoria, Inter are reportedly eager to tie him down with a long-term deal. The move comes as part of the Italian giants’ broader strategy to strengthen their squad with homegrown talent while also preparing for their upcoming campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

According to reports from FCInter1908, quoting respected Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, talks have already begun between Inter and the player’s representatives. The club sees Akinsanmiro as a key figure in its future plans.

“Inter, who departed today for the United States where they will take part in the Club World Cup starting next week, are also looking ahead to the future and focusing on the young talents within their ranks,” the report stated. “In particular, they have opened talks to renew the contract of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.”

The midfielder joined Inter from Nigerian club Remo Stars in January 2023 on a four-year deal. Initially integrated into the youth setup, Akinsanmiro quickly rose through the ranks and made his senior debut in February 2024, coming on as a substitute in a 4–0 Serie A victory over Lecce.

During the 2024/25 season, he was loaned out to Sampdoria in Serie B, where he made 35 appearances, scoring once and providing an assist. Despite the club’s eventual relegation, Akinsanmiro’s individual performances stood out, drawing praise for his maturity, technical ability, and composure in midfield.

Inter Milan’s decision to open contract negotiations reflects the growing confidence in the Nigerian’s development and potential to play a larger role in the first team in the coming seasons.

Should an agreement be reached, it would mark another significant step in Akinsanmiro’s swift rise through European football and further solidify his status as one of Nigeria’s brightest emerging talents.
