Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State to rally their support for the party’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election. In a press statement issued in Abuja by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku highlighted Ajayi’s potential to drive positive change in Ondo, describing him as a “consummate politician” focused on the welfare of his people.

Ajayi faces competition from incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 15 other candidates in the race.

Atiku, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, asserted that the people of Ondo State were ready to reject the APC’s leadership, which he characterized as “unpopular” and lacking the people’s interests at its core. “The governorship election in Ondo State this Saturday is an opportunity for the people to push for increased prosperity,” Atiku stated. “The APC has proven it does not prioritize the welfare of the people.”

The former vice president pledged that PDP leadership would provide all necessary support to ensure the wishes of Ondo’s electorate are respected, cautioning election officials against malpractice. He called on voters to turn out in large numbers, emphasizing that “when the tide is high, it becomes too big to rig.”

Atiku concluded by urging Ondo’s electorate to remain vigilant, asserting that the people’s voices and votes must be counted and respected.
